Victor Vu's latest box-office hit in Vietnam!

Audience is invited to stay for the Q & A after the screening with director and cast.

Trailer and more info:

About the film:

Victor Vu’s newest film, Scandal casts a bright spotlight on the big dreams and bigger fights of Viet Nam’s entertainment industry. Ý Linh (Vân Trang) finds herself in competition with Trà My (Mai Thu Hường or Maya), a fast-rising model, singer and actress who doesn’t buy the starlet’s ingénue act. The two competitors go head to head for gigs but things take a sinister turn when a mysterious brain injury makes Ý Linh wonder if she has been cursed. As she loses everything to Trà My, including her husband, Ý Linh goes to the tabloids to accuse the other woman of using dark magic. After the husband commits suicide, Ý Linh begins to see her own death everywhere at the hands of her bitter enemy.

A Vietnamese American, director Vu holds a BA in film production from Loyola Marymount University. Now working out of Viet Nam, Vu is a prolific filmmaker known for his wide array of genres, including comedy, horror, and martial arts/kiếm hiệp films like Blood Letter, also being screened at ViFF this year. His long-time fascination with romantic intrigue and the supernatural finds a perfect combination in this twisted tale of revenge. Scandal is part soap-operatic confection, part thriller—and a sidelong critique of the increasingly vicious relationship between Viet Nam’s tabloids and its burgeoning movie industry.

All purchases are final. Tickets are non-refundable but are transferable and can be exchanged for another screening of equal or less price
